Memories from Copenhagen...

Those who follow me on Instagram and have a keen eye may have noticed that I took a quick trip to the Danish capital, Copenhagen this past bank holiday weekend. Arriving Friday morning and leaving Monday afternoon, I stayed in the trendy Vesterbro area with partner in crime and bestie, Rachel.

Having been to Copenhagen four times previously, but always for work, for me this weekend was dedicated to tourism, design and, of course, shopping. I'm not going to do the tourist board's job for them by telling you all the typical places you should go and see - The Little Mermaid, Tivoli Gardens - as though we did go to see them, we had much more fun getting lost and mastering the local buses and S train. The words 'let's consult the map' became a constant soundtrack to our weekend as we found some hidden gems. Below is a brief guide as well as a few holiday snaps. There are no street style snaps here - we were far too busy stuffing our faces with pastries and smørrebrød.

Favourite fashion shop:

Favourite design shop: 

HAY House. If I had the budget my whole house would be decorated with furniture and lifestyle products from HAY.

Favourite tourist attraction: 

The waterfront at Nyhavn. Tip: Take the hop on hop off boat here to appreciate the view from the water, and from the dock.

Favourite alternative tourist attraction: 

Head to Christiania for a walk down the infamous Pusher Street and to take in the erm, interesting graffiti.

Best place to stay: 

Check out the airbnb website for some great deals in trendy Vesterbro; part meatpacking district, part red light district, 100% hipster.

Crumpet's Cruise Collection: This Little Girl Loves

British label Crumpet is a favourite over here at This Little Girl Is Lost and after seeing the Cruise 2014 collection, I know the love affair is going to last another season. The cashmere brand specialises in statement knits, with an understated, edgy cool about them. There's also biker jackets and over-sized wrap jackets to look out for this season, in a striking monochrome port/navy check, designed to be slung over their colour block signature crews. 
 

Giant Leopard prints are popular once again (see the S/S 13 report here) albeit in a new shade of emerald green, alongside zebra print in monochrome and acid yellow. Stripes and a retro-inspired Geo print can be found on tees, crews and matching scarves. I recommend teaming these with leather pleated or midi skirts and mannish, chunky loafers for an update on last winter's popular aesthetic.  

For magpies like me, Crumpet’s black polo necks and ponchos glitter with Swarovski crystals - perfect for evening over a pencil skirt or skinny jeans with ankle boots. Designer Zara Juricic has also combined cashmere and lace for some delicate separates in neutral tones. Classic leopard print scarves make a welcome return. My key piece? The zebra jumper which I'd team with quilted skirts and super skinny jeans.

Brand Bio: Each piece from Crumpet is made in Nepal from pure cashmere in small family run factories where local women are supported in work. All styles are hand finished, hand printed or hand embellished. Most famed for their printed star scarves, the popular print remains to this day across the accessory line.

Monochrome & Chains: What I Wore Today

It's very rare that I do outfit posts on This Little Girl Is Lost but this morning the planets must have magically aligned because I was up early and out of my PJ's for a morning meeting and my housemate was willing, and patient enough, to take the photo's. The images you see below we're taken outside the front of my house in sunny London, one of the last few times we'll see the sun I suspect as Autumn creeps closer.

This white jacket from Zara was a start-of-summer investment buy that I've just got round to wearing now. However, I've had so many compliments it's now coming everywhere with me. The monochrome trend is going to be huge again for AW 13 so I paired it with a minimalist, simple black dress from Warehouse (the jacket would look wrong with anything too fussy) and then toughened it up with cut-out detail boots and a chunky silver chain necklace from H&M. BLAKE LDN Autumn Winter 2013

With the summer, or at least the sizzling hot temperatures seemingly over, I'm already preparing myself for the transition into Autumn and amongst the medley of AW 13 collections out there, I'm currently crushing on Blake Ldn above all others. I first blogged about the exclusive London knit label last year (which you can see here) after its launch at London Fashion Week. 

AW 13 was inspired by vintage ski images, adapting to create a modern day take on the traditional chunky ski-knit by looking closely at the yoke, panelling and racing stripes. Textures of angora and cashmere are added, alongside clashing hues of rich gold and bright neon, to a basic palette of deep navy’s and army greens. New for the season are styles of bomber jackets, oversized boyfriend sweaters and chunky ribbed polo necks. 

This season also sees a capsule range of Accessories added. Simple cashmere beanies sit next to fine merino, angora and chevron beanies pattern beanies as well as a long neon stripe scarf.

Bio: having studied at London’s Central St Martins, Alice Ashby has previously worked as Assistant Knitwear designer at Rag & Bone in New York and co-founded luxury knitwear label The North Circular. She launched Blake LDN in September 2012 with an eye on creating a more conscious alternative within the luxury knitwear market.  

Heidi Klein Holiday Beachwear Hero's

By the time I go to Morocco in September I'm sure those around me will be sick of hearing about it, but I just can't help my excitement - this will be my first holiday in two years after all. However, something which causes less excitement is the thought of getting beach ready and finding beautiful yet flattering swimwear to pack. This is especially hard to do later in the season when the summer sales have long since disappeared. My solution - Heidi Klein.

London-based design duo Heidi Gosman and Penny Klein launched their first Notting Hill store in 2002, and since then the beachwear label has gone on to perfect the holiday wardrobe of every woman's dreams in each capsule collection.

Designed with hidden support, secret padding and under wiring to ensure the perfect fit, classic shapes like bandeau and halternecks feature mix and match stripes and high-impact tones of dark orange this season. There's also brass accents, rope fastenings, plisse fabrics, and scalloped trims to keep things interesting. My key pieces include the sculpting Cancun swimsuit which I'd pair with the white linen broderie anglaise Soleil dress, round sunnies, and a wide brimmed hat. The Raffia Santa Caterina shoulder bag with leather tassel and gold detailing is another versatile little number, perfect for the beach, pool-side, and all the souks I plan to visit whilst in Marrakech.
