'Ethereal Darkness' is the essence of the A/W 12 collection from designer Kelly Love - inspired by the romantic darkness of the Russian woods and snippets of folk tales.
I am absolutely in love with the prints in the current collection, including an exotic wildflower washed over cotton tensel pieces. This is a much more grown up version of summer's airy and romantic print - a pocket full of posies - and sure to be a winner with loyal fans of the brand.
Meanwhile, key pieces across the range include ladylike midi dresses, high waisted cigarette pants, blouses and jumpsuits, all constructed from a palette of rich burgundy red, nude, French navy and dusty blue.
Signature sandwashed silk gives the collection a sumptuous feel whilst boucle wools are adorned with corded lace and piping.
Sheer fabrications and dramatic lace lend the right amount of romantic, gothic elegance needed for eveningwear this season, without being too revealing or over the top.
What most impressed me most however is the look book styling - I can easily see myself wearing these pieces in exactly the same way, with a vintage fur shrug slung nonchalantly over my shoulder, ankle boots, hats and kid gloves galore.
Biography: Kelly Love is an Australian fashion designer. The look behind the label is a tribute to feminism, old world glamour and love in the purest form. In 2008 Kelly moved to London where she is currently based.
